I speak to this moment, all sticky with salt
peeling the sea lettuce off my thighs, my feet

crystalised sand, the tide drawing in and out
like the sound of my blood, and the memory

of my mothers, and my grandmothers
that amniotic amplification, generation

after each, swimming and surfacing. I sit
and reconcile the beauty I find myself in

and all possibility, with the torn and lacking
and all that violates and binds
